Mylo Xyloto album review:
Overall impression:
In my opinion, "Mylo Xyloto" is the worst piece of Coldplay discography so far. And since I had similar thoughts while listening "Viva la Vida" the first time, it seems that Coldplay's trend is in downwards curve. Neither of those albums is bad, but in Coldplay standards, they both suck big time. I think the one thing I don't like at all in both albums is the producer. I just don't like the kind of music what is the end product of "Brian Eno's" producing. Apart from the producing, I think that "Mylo Xyloto's" tracks contain too much synthesizer-based instruments. If you have an actual drummer in the band, why don't use him? Why to use synth-drums and loops and so on.
The best track:
This is really an easy task. "U.F.O." is the only track I actually like on this album. And I mean from the versions Coldplay has recorded. "U.F.O." sounds like Coldplay used to sound, like it should sound. And I don't mean that artistists and bands shouldn't evolve, but I don't want them to evolve to wrong direction. I also like "Paradise" as a song, but not the Coldplay version. For example "Gavin Mikhail" has done an amazing version of "Paradise" and it beats the Coldplay version every day. And this is really sad fact. "Us Agains the World" is also a quite good track, mainly because the fingerprints and trademarks of "Brian Eno" are can be heard only faintly.
The worst track:
This is not so an easy task since it's difficult to decide which track on the album I dislike the most. "Princess of China" is an awful track, I really hate it. Only thing that could make it even worse would be that "Jay-Z" would "rap" on it. Fortunately we are saved from him. I also pity "Rihanna" that her great talent is wasted on such a crappy track. The track "Major Minus" also never should have earned a place on Coldplay album, never.
The best line of lyrics:
The best line of lyrics is the opening lines of the track called "M.M.I.X." "Somewhere up above the stars, the wreckage of a universe floats past". It's just beautiful and draws many nice pictures into my mind. Very dreamy piece of poetry.
