Parachutes album review:
Overall impression:
I can still remember listening this album for the first time. It happened in Athens and I had bought the album that day from a local record shop. I just sat on the balcony and watched the setting sun. I instantly fell in love and still am in love with this album. I really like how the songs like "Yellow", "Everything's Not Lost" and "We Never Change" progress and evolve. I also like the small and subtle variations in the chord structure that can be heard in many tracks of the album. One of the other great things in this album is its innocence. The big bad music business haven't touched it and the band, yet. "Parachutes" is definitely the best Coldplay album with "The Rush of Blood to the Head".
The best track:
It is almost impossible to choose only one track, so I will list several. My all time favorite is "Yellow", but I love "Trouble", "Don't Panic" and "Shiver" as well. They all are simple but beautiful, brilliant pieces of music.
The worst track:
There are no bad tracks on this album and nothing exactly negative can be said about its tracks. But, since one have to be chosen and mentioned, so I have to say that "Parachutes" is probably the weakest track on "Parachutes". Yes, it is not even a minute long track, but the album wouldn't have suffered much, if this track would have been omitted from it.
The best line of lyrics:
The opening line of "Everything's Not Lost" "When I'm counting up my demons. Saw there was one for every day" just makes me smile. It's like part of everybody's life and still it's humorous.
