Sacred Love album review:

Overall impression:
This album is one of the most important to me, ever. I have loved it from the first time I heard it the first time in 2003. To me, it is also easily the best album Sting have recorded. I just love the almost gloomy, melancholic atmosphere and mood of it. The compositions of the album are just brilliant. And compared to the albums from the early phases of Sting's career, the songs are lot easier to comprehend, but still they can be listened again and again and still new insights and secrets unfold every time. When trying to find something to be criticized on the album, the only thing that comes to mind are the oriental influences on some tracks. They just don't fit well on the atmosphere of the album as a whole.

The best track:
Sacred Love contains the two Sting songs I love the most. They are "Dead Man's Rope" and "The Book of My Life". Especially the latter gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Oddly enough, in "The Book of My Life" the oriental aspects don't bother me. The sitar of Anoushka Shankar fit well on the introduction of the track. The "Dead Man's Rope" is also a masterpiece which I could just listen over and over again. And actually have listened sometimes.

The worst track:
Mostly due to the oriental influences it contains, "Send Your Love" is to me the worst track on the album. It is not a bad song by any means, but on this album, it just drags far behind the other tracks.

The best line of lyrics:
From the point of view of great lines of lyrics, Sacred Love is a motherload. The best pieces of lyrics can be found from the track "Dead Man's Rope". Especially the lyrics "All the days of my life I will walk with you, all the days of my life I will talk with you, all the days of my life I will share with you, all the days of my life I will bear with you." are just from heaven.
