The lead singer of the band Paul McCoy was featured as a guest vocalist on Grammy-awarded hit single "Bring Me to Life" made by "Evanescence" and featured on "Elektra" soundtrack. 12 Stones also recorded the track "Let Go" exclusively for this soundtrack.

After playing only 12 gigs, three months after the band's formation, 12 Stones signed a recording deal with Wind-Up Records.

Their self-titled debut album was released in April 2002 and it peaked at number 147 in US album charts. The song "My Life" was featured on the movie soundtrack of "The Scorpion King".

A couple of tracks from the band's second album "Potter's Field", released in August 2004, have been featured on film soundtracks: "Shadows" in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" and "Photograph" in "Elektra". "Potter's Field" have reached the best positions on the album charts of all 12 Stones albums so far.

"The Anthem of the Underdog" was released in August 2007, but it wasn't as successful as its predecessor had been.

On August 2010 it was announced that 12 Stones would be leaving Wind-Up Records. Later they signed a new deal with Executive Music Group.
