• "Speck in the Universe" is the music of 16 year old singer songwriter, Alexa Borden. Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, she has always had a love for creating and performing. Falling in love with dancing at age 5, Alexa found a gateway to her passion of the arts. Alexa immersed herself in constant music, David Bowie, Elton John, Talking Heads, and The Beatles were a large part of her life growing up, and a large influence on her current writing.
• Borden realized her passion for singing at about the age of 9. She began to perform in talent shows and at her school as much as she could. When Alexa was 12, she entered into Calgary's Junior Idol and made it to the semi-finals. As Borden grew older she started to realize her potential as an artist, so at the age of 13 she was inspired to teach herself how to play the piano. From there Alexa began to write and compose, and eventually went on to produce her own album at just 15.
• Alexa found solace in the melodic melancholia of new global British bands Aqualung, Radiohead, Coldplay and Keane, etc... Inspired, Alexa developed the sound of her debut- hypnotic piano arrangements under poignant melodies fused into irresistible, atmospheric songs. Often praised as "Haunting", "Romantic" and "Dreamy", Alexa proves to be wise beyond her years.
