Christian rock band Fireflight was formed at Eustis, Florida, United States in 1999 by school friends Glenn Drennen and Justin Cox. A bit later they became a full band after Wendy Drennen, Phee Shorb and Dawn Michele hopped in.

In 2002, the band released their first album "Glam-rok". The album was released independently, without any recording deal and it consisted of 11 tracks.

In 2006, Fireflight released their first major label album after signing a recording deal with Flicker Records. "The Healing of Harms" was produced by Skidd Mills. Three of the album's eleven tracks was featured also on their "On the Subject of Moving Forward EP" released independently in 2004. "The Healing of Harms" peaked number 37 on Billboard Top Christian Albums chart.

Their second major album and third full-album "Unbreakable" was released in March 2008 by Flicker Records. The album was produced by Rob Hawkins. The first single also titled "Unbreakable" was featured in TV series called "Bionic Woman". The album debuted number 15 on Top Christian Albums chart.

In February 9th 2009 Fireflight released their forth studio album called "For Those Who Wait". The album sold over 15,000 copies in its first week. This album received a Grammy Nomination in the category Best Rock or Gospel Album. Fireflight did not won the Grammy since the winner was "Switchfoot".
