Kings of Leon was founded at Nashville, Tennessee, United States in 1999 by three brothers vocalist and guitarist Anthony Caleb, drummer Ivan Nathan and bassist Michael Jared Followil and their cousin, guitarist Cameron Matthew Followil.

"Youth & Young Manhood" is the debut album of Kings of Leon and it was released by RCA and HandMeDown in August 2003.The album is partly recorded in Sound City Studios at California, in the same studio where Nirvana's Nevermind was recorded. The album spent five weeks on US Billboard 200 Album chart and peaked at number 113.

The band's second album "Aha Shake Heartbreak" was released in November 2004. The album was produced by Ethan Johns. In US Album chart the album peaked at number 55, in Australia at number 25, and in Ireland and UK at number 3. The first single of the album was "The Bucket" released in October 2004.

The third album "Because of the Times" was released in March 2007. The Rolling Stones magazine ranked the album at number 31 on their Top 50 Albums of 2007. The album became the number one of charts in Ireland, UK and New Zealand.

In September 2008 Kings of Leon released its fourth studio album called "Only by the Night". The album was the best selling album of Australia in 2008. The album received platinum certification in eight countries including Canada, United States, Belgium and South Africa.

"Come Around Sundown" is the fifth album of the band and it was released in October 2010 by RCA. Angelo Petraglia and Jacquire King produced the album. The album reached the number one spot on album charts in seven countries. In US Billboard Album chart the album spent 26 weeks peaking at number 2.
