Parkway Drive was formed in 2002 in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia. The band's name comes from the name of the street where the band's first practicing spaces was located.

To record their debut album, the band traveled to United States. "Killing With A Smile" was released in August 2005 under Resist Records. The album was produced by "Killswitch Engage" guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz.

The second album of Parkway Drive is called "Horizons" and it was released in October 2007 by Resist Records and Epitaph Records. As their debut, this album was also produced by Adam Dutkiewicz.

The band's third album called "Deep Blue" released in June 2010 was their first album to reach the US Billboards 200 Album chart. The album peaked number on the chart. The album was produced by Joe Barresi, who is known of his work with such bands like "Pennywise", "Bad Religion" and "Apocalyptica".

Parkway Drive has taken names for their songs from two Guy Richie movies. The name for the song "Guns for Show, Knives for a Pro" from the album "Killing with A Smile" is taken from the movie "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels". "Feed Them To The Pigs" is a quote from the movie Snatch.
