Patrick "Guitar boy" Hayes was born on January 4 1977 in Mendenhall, MS to Frankie Hayes Delancey. Patrick is the eldest of one brother whom is Lance Hayes. At the early age of 5, Patrick's mom recognized that he had a rare musical gift. His talent became natural because it derived from his musically inclined family. An uncle gave him a guitar and he created magic through the strings. The Hayes family sang and played many instruments. They performed with the famous Staples Singers and toured various cities. Their gospel group The Harmony Doves recorded 3 albums together. Patrick received his formal education from Mendenhall High School. He proceeded to attend and obtain two degrees from Jackson State University in Jackson, MS. At Jackson State; Patrick performed musical compositions with the Drama/Theatre Club. During the time spent earning his master's; he began touring with Blues Artists, Bobby Rush, Tyrone Davis, B.B. King and many other legends. Patrick played on events such as; The House of Blues Awards, The Montarey Festival, The Winthrop Festival and numerous others. He also performed for the now famous Black Eyed Peas.
Upon graduating with his masters degree; Patrick decided to relocate to Chicago so that he could further pursue his musical endeavors. After residing in Chicago only one year; Patrick was introduced to superstar R.Kelly. In 2002, he began establishing a friendship with the artist and was invited to play in a weekly basketball league. Mr. Kelly attended an event in which he saw Patrick perform and was impressed with his amazing musical talent. Patrick auditioned for Rob at Chicago Trax Studio; which later became The Chocolate Factory. Under Rob's artistic mentorship; Patrick was hired as one of his studio musicians/Guitarist. He blossomed into a famous, platinum producer. He plays and produces R & B, Jazz, Rap, Country, Rock, Crossover, Spanish, Gospel and various types of music. The songs that Patrick co-produced with R. Kelly are as follows: Hit it till the morning, Remote Control, Sex Weed, Sex Planet, Having a baby, Rise up, Leave your name, Sweet tooth, Skin, Go Low, Trapped in the closet(remix), Promise(remix), Out of this club, Best Friend and Grub on. It was an honor to co-produce with R. Kelly a song for Micheal Jackson which was entitled Planet Earth. After having a stellar career with Mr. Kelly; Patrick decided that it was time to explore new opportunities. Atlanta is a music mecca and moving there rapidly enhanced his career. Patrick teamed up with Trey Songz's producer Troy Taylor. Patrick then produced songs for Trey's mix tape entitled “Anticipation” in 2009. There were 3 smash hits that were selected for his upcoming album "Ready." The songs are "Panty Dropper" "Neighbors Know My Name" and "Yo side of the bed." "Neighbors" is still topping the Billboard charts a year later. It held the #1 spot for several weeks. The video received high acclaim and was in heavy rotation on MTV.
Trey Songz was nominated for a Grammy in the R & B category and he received his first Bet award for best R & B artist. This award was rooted from Neighbors know my name; which was produced by Patrick Hayes and co-produced by Troy Taylor. Patrick created "Panty Dropper", "Neighbors Know My Name" and "Yo Side Of The Bed" heavily from eccentric guitar chords before the songs had words. His newfound success has opened many new doors for him. These opportunities caught the attention of Manny Halley of Imani Entertainment, who then introduced him to Juan Madrid of Warner Chappell Music Group. Patrick was immediately signed to Warner Chappell Publishing. Patrick has collaborated with some of today's hottest producers / A&R's: Jazze Pha, Blac Elvis, Harold Lily, Mike Caren (Atlantic Records), Kane, DJ FrankE, Sean Garrett, Polow Da Don, Lionel Richie, Jay Dee Springbett (Sony Music Australia), The rest is musical history.
