Saving Abel was formed in 2004 in Corinth, Mississippi, United States by Jason Null and Jared Weeks.

The name of the band is a reference to an ancient story from the Bible about Cain and Abel.

In 2005, producer Skidd Mills who have worked with bands like "ZZ Top", "Saliva" and "12 Stones" heard a song made by Saving Abel and he brought States and Null to his studio record those songs. Eventually, these songs became an EP called "Saving Abel". The EP earned them a recording deal with Virgin Records.

In March 2008 the band released their debut album, again called "Saving Abel". This album contained songs from the EP and also some new tracks as well. The album was produced by Skidd Mills and it peaked number 49 in the US album chart. The album has also received Gold certification in the US.

Saving Abel's second album "Miss America" was released by Virgin Records in June 2010. This album also was produced Skidd Mills accompanied by Marti Frederiksen. The first single of the album was "Stupid Girl (Only in Hollywood)" and a music video was also filmed of this song. This album was more successful than its predecessor peaking number 24 in the US album charts.
