The christian rock band The Classic Crime was formed in 2004 in Seattle, Washington, United States by Justin DuQue, Matt MacDonald, Paul Erickson, Robert Negrin and Alan Clark.

The band's debut album "Albatross" was released in May 2006 by Tooth & Nail Records. The album made the highest debut sales in the label's history by selling over 4000 copies on its first week. The album also peaked at number 12 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. The album was produced by Michael Baskette.

The second album of The Classic Crime called "The Silver Cord" was released in July 2008. This album was also produced by Michael Baskette and it was released by Tooth & Nail. The album peaked number 123 on US Billboard 200 album chart.

The band's third album "Vagabond" was released in April 2010. "Vagabond" is the most successful album of the band so far since it peaked number 105 on Billboard's 200 album chart. The album had same producer as the band's two previous albums and the first radio single from the album was track called "Solar Powered Life". A deluxe edition of the album also exists containing two bonus tracks.
