The Cure discography highlights:

• The band was formed by Robert Smith and with a couple of his school friends. This happened in 1976 and at first the band was called "Easy Cure". Before this, Smith played in a band called "The Obelisk". This band could be called the first incarnation of "The Cure".
• In 1977, "Easy Cure" won a band competition that earned them a recording deal with Hansa Records from Germany. Although making some recordings for the label, none of them were ever released. Soon the contract was dissolved and the band became a trio changing their name to "The Cure".
• Band's frontman Robert Smith is the only original member of the band at the moment, after many line-up changes during the years.
• The single "A Forest" from the band's second album "Seventeen Seconds" was their first hit single in the United Kingdom. It reached the number 31 spot on the single charts.

"Pornography", The Cure album number four released in 1982 became their first top ten album. Despite sounding uncommercial the album reached the 8th place in UK album charts.
The release of the album "The Head on the Door" in 1985, and the singles, compilations and videos released after it, increased the band's success in the US and made them very popular in Europe as well.
The Cure signed a deal with Geffen Records in 2003 and their self-titled album The Cure was released in 2004. In 2004 was released also an extensive compilation-box "Join the Dots: B-Sides and Rarities, 1978-2000 (The Fiction Years)" which were released by their previous label Fiction.
