• The Donnas is a rock band consisting only women and it was formed in May 1993 Palo Alto, California United States. All the original members of the band were born in 1979 and they became school friends by eight grade.
• At first the band was called "Ragady Anne" which was then changed to "The Electrocutes". While still calling themselves "The Electrocutes", they members of the band decided to form another band to play different kind of music compared to music "The Electrocutes" played. This band was then called "The Donnas".
• The band's self-titled debut album was first released in 1997 by the band's own record label Super*Teem, and later re-released by Lookout! Records in 1998. The reissue contains nine bonus tracks. The band's next three albums were also released by Lookout! Records.
• The Donnas signed their first major recording deal with Atlantic Records in 2001. In October 2002 their first major label album called "Spend the Night" was released. The album peaked number 62 on Billboard Hot 200 album chart. The album was produced by Robert Shimp and Jason Carmer.

The sixth studio album of The Donnas, "Gold Medal" is the most successful album of the band so far peaking number 89 in US album chart. "Gold Medal" was released in October 2004 by Atlantic Records and it was produced by Butch Walker.
In July 2009, The Donnas released their first compilation album. The album was called "Greatest Hits Volume 16" the name referring the fact that band had been together sixteen years already. The compilation was released on the band's own record label Purple Feather Records.
