The Horrors was formed in 2005 at Southend on sea, England. The forming members of the band were guitarist Joshua Hayward, drummer Joe Spurgeon, bassist Rhys Webb, vocalist Faris Badwan and keyboardist Tom Cowan.

In March 2007, The Horrors released its debut album "Strange House" via Loog record label. The album peaked at number 37 on UK Album chart and at number 19 in US Billboard's Heatseekers Album chart. "Sheena IS A Parasite" was the first single released from the album.

"Primary Colours" is the second album of the band and it was released by XL Recordings in April 2009. The tracks "Sea Within A Sea", "Who Can Say", "Mirror's Image" and "Whole New Way" were released as singles. The album reached the spot number 25 on the album chart of the UK.

The Horrors released its third full-length studio album in July 2011. The album was called "Skying" and it was produced by Craig Silvey and the band itself. The album broke itself into TOP 10 of album charts in the UK peaking at number 5 and Scotland peaking at number 7. On US album chart the album peaked at number 97.
