The Scene Aesthetic was formed by Eric Kimberlin Bowley and Andrew de Torres at Seattle, Washington, United States in 2005.

"Building Homes from What We've Known" is the debut album of The Scene Aesthetic and it was released in April 2006 by Destiny Worldwide Records. The album contains twelve tracks and it was produced by Brandon Metcalf. The album was re-released in July 2007 carrying the band's name. "The Scene Aesthetic" version contains three additional bonus tracks.

"A Type & A Shadow EP" was released in July 2009. Brandon Metcalf produced the album and it was released via Destiny Worldwide Records. The EP contains six new songs.

In November 2010, the band released its second full-length studio album called "Brother". The album contains twelve tracks and it was produced by Marshall Altman who has previously produced albums for artists like "Adema", "Kate Voegele", "Matt Nathanson" and "William Fitzsimmons". The album was released independently by the band. "Cary Brothers" sings additional vocals on the seventh track called "Lonely Girl". The first single of the album was "Never Gonna Let This Go" which was released in June 2010.
