The Starting Line discography highlights:

• In 1999 guitarist Matt Watts emailed vocalist and bass-player Kenny Vasoli if he would be interested in jamming with him. Soon, a band started to form itself and they started to record songs. The band called itself "Sunday Drive" and received a recording deal with We the People Records.
• The recording deal with We the People Records were soon switch with a deal with Drive-Through Records. This happened in April 2001. Also the band's name was changed to The Starting Line, since a band called "Sunday Drive" already existed.
• The band's first EP "With Hopes of Starting Over" was released by Drive-Through Records in June 2001 and it was co-produced by Chris Badami.
• In July 2002, a year after the release of their first EP, The Starting Line released their first full-length album. The album was called "Say It Like You Mean It". The album peaked at number 109 on US Billboard 200 albums chart.

In November 2003, the band released an EP including acoustic versions of their songs. It was called "The Make Yourself at Home EP". Soon after this the band signed their first major recording deal with Geffen Records.
The band's major label debut "Based on a True Story" was released in May 2005. The album was produced by Howard Benson, Eric Rachel and Tim O'Heir. The album peaked number 18 on the US album charts.
Their second major label and third full-length album was released in July 2007 and was called "Direction". The album was produced solely by Howard Benson but it was not as successful as "Based on a True Story" had been. The album peaked number 30 in US album charts.
